If anything 'happens' - I'm coming over to your house !

"If anything 'happens' - I'm coming over to your house !" - quote by my dad over the weekend.

Sometimes, all it takes is some 'equipment' to make an impression. :D (pic taken at folks house - have guns, will travel)

**New bipod on the Thompson, new Swiss bayonet, new Persian Mauser bayonet (16" blade), new Romanian 75-rd drum on the RPK, and a new rifle Molle bag.

'Course the obvious problem is that I don't have enough rifles to accomodate lots of refugees to my headquarters. :banghead:

.....at least I have a start.

One day, all those parts kits will no longer just be parts kits. And I'll have a bunch of little kids running around, so I can have a small army one day :bull-buddy-icon:

Bayonet? Holy crap, I thought that was an out-of-place jumbo tent stake and stopped looking at it! haha

AD where did you get that big duffle bag at, is that military and if so what is it called. Do rifles fit in that and how many? I'd like one to stuff 3 or 4 of my rifles in for a ER bugout.

I picked up mine at a local Army/Navy warehouse but paid a bit too much........it was kinda one of those - I like it, I need it, I buy it days.

You can get them at cheaper than dirt for $42 +ship :

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE200-41690-1975.html

Here's another one that's about twice the price but it's also 48" long :

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE182-56034-1975.html

The front pouches come off completely and there's storage for 2 rifles + 2 handguns if need be and mags & ammo in the front pouches. It's deceiving because my RPK is 44" and won't fit. I only have a protective sleeve for it right now.........:banghead:

AD,
You KNOW I like your RPK. And I do understand the Romanian drum purchase.

DUDE, you gotta find at least ONE chinese drum. You will pitch that Romanian so fast you won't believe it.

There are two basic problems with the Romanian. First is you have to load one round at a time, and once it's loaded that spring CAN cause you feeding problems. The resolution SEEMS to be to not load any more than about fifty rounds to keep the pressure on the spring 'even'.

The SECOND problem with the Romanian is that it can basically fail at any time (probably when you need it most). Having said all this, it's a good addition if you don't have any other drums (one Romanian is better than NO drums). But, don't forget the 10 round, the 20 round and the 30 round mags.

One of my buddies LOVES the plastic ones. He's carried them in combat and says it saves about twenty pounds off his 'full load' (don't ask - I don't). But he does say they can be 'broken' easier than any of the metal ones.

Plus, having your ammo in a seperate (smaller) bag for JUST ammo (loose and loaded mags/drums) IS the way to go.

LOVE the Tommy. LOVE THE RPK. Consider the PSO 4x24 scope for that RPK. You won't regret the purchase, I PROMISE. I haven't.

Yep, I'm already experiencing that problem with loading as of last night. I had that darn back cover off at least 10-times trying to figure out why the feed sucks. :banghead: After some work and the pain of loading like a mag + that damn thumb lever on the front, I've resolved to only load 40-rounds for the shooting range this Friday. I'm bring a screwdriver in case it needs to come apart again. Also, I've already cut my thumb once on that stupid fan/spring assembly - it's sharp and will gig you if you slip. If you get any leads on the Chinese Norinco / Mak-90 drum let me know.......

I'm looking at purchasing (3) of those Polymer 30-rounds mags. I can get a pretty good deal from Sportman's Guide with my buyers club discount.

Thanks for the tips Wallew, always a pleasure reading your replies. :bear_tongue:

AD,
I REALLY don't like posting this link, but Florida Gun Works does have them for $270.

http://www.floridagunworks.com/Merch...de=AKA+AK+MAGS

Of course, the TJ General store has them for $999! So $270 seems like a steal. AND these have already completely disappeared from most stocks. So think about this.

http://www.tjgeneralstore.com/ak-47_drum_mag.htm

Cheaper than dirt $200...

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MAG031-46047-1296.html

These are RAPIDLY becoming 'unobtanium', so 'suck it up', buy one and then SELL that Romanian sucker to 'lessen the blow' as it were.

If anyone is interested in those chinese drums for $269, I'll sell you two pre-ban 75 round norinco drums for $500, shipping included.

Putting aside the gear for a moment, if Dad does show up, does he have a clear understanding and acceptance of who is in charge? It could be disasterous if he doesn't.

Good point, but I think I have that covered...... On my turf, I run the show so I'm not too worried. Also, I do still hold respect for my 'ole man but it'd probably be good to get more rifles.

FWIW - The Thompson shoots like crap and I'm taking it back this week. If I can get a full refund then I'll buy some more AK's.......if not, I'll try to trade for an AR. Either way, I'm not keeping the Thompson.........thanks to BATFE it's over-regulated with that damn closed bolt safety and tight springs, it's nowhere close to the originals. :banghead:

I am ok with strong backs "showing up" at my place, I got extra shovels and rifles and know how to put em both to work. :D or should I call them "entrenchment tools"

come a very hard SHTF the "riffraff" will need a hard "correction." Not every "suburbanite" will passively sit by waiting for marauding bands of hungry refugees to show up with their hands out.

Some "suburbanites" will form up and do their thing "balkan style" if ya know what I mean. LOL
